The long-awaited EP by electronica/instrumental collective Juzhin is finally out! Curious is a collection of 7 tracks recorded by the band during the year 2010. This release could easily be considered an album, due to not only its exceptional quality, but, more importantly, its integrity and cohesiveness. You can see right away what Juzhin is all about – creating deep downtempo compositions that possess much more than stylish electronica melodies tastefully seasoned with live instruments. Their tracks have character – something that most of the music (especially instrumental, especially electronica) lacks nowadays. Juzhin‘s songs are very cinematic and have an ability to not only paint a certain picture, but completely transport you inside that picture, get you submerged in the track’s atmosphere. Unfortunately, we won’t have a chance to enjoy the voice of Juzhin‘s recently added vocalist, but, as the band members themselves put it, ‘this is not a period, this is a big comma’, which marks the end of one chapter in Juzhin‘s biography, but also the beginning of the very new and very exciting one – new album, which the band is currently working on very hard. As usual, I’m not going to review our own release, but you, my dear readers, are more than welcome to. You can listen and download (for free) Juzhin Curious EP on Bandcamp, or get it from Mininova, if you prefer torrents.
